Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Evergreen?

Evergreen is located near the western entrance to Yosemite National Park, about 40 minutes past the town of Groveland off Highway 120. It’s about an hour to Yosemite Valley, and 20 minutes to Hetch Hetchy.

How long does it take to get there?

Evergreen is about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco, or 6 hour drive from Los Angeles. Oakland is the closest major airport, at about a 3 hour drive away. Mammoth Lakes Airport or Merced Airport are also good options if you’re intent on minimizing driving time, but at 2-2.5 hours away, you’re really not saving too much here.

What’s the cancellation policy at Evergreen?

Here’s the applicable fine print from the website: “For non-holiday stays, if cancelled at least 30 days before check-in date, Deposit will be refunded less a $25 fee. If cancelled less than 30 days before check-in date, Deposit will be forfeited.”

Can I cook in the cabin?

The cabins have a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a safe, but they do not have kitchens and cooking is not permitted. The general store sells light fare, and the restaurant serves full meals. We also suggest bringing light snacks with you for pack lunches, mid-day or trail snacking needs, or anything else you may want snacks for. The general store also sells alcohol, but it’s a little pricey given that they’re the only ones around selling it.

What should I wear to the wedding?

Think of a woodsy cocktail party. Our wedding is in August, and everything is happening outdoors, so you can leave the formal wear at home in favor of your summer suit, cocktail dress, or garden party attire.

You’ll also want to consider the temperature. It will be very warm during the day when the wedding begins–average daytime temperatures are in the 80s and 90s in the mountains. Yet we’ll be in the mountains, and it’s California, so it will get chillier as the sun sets at night (think 50s and 60s). Plan on bringing some warmer layers to stay comfortable outside when the temperature dips.

What should I wear to the BBQ?

It’s totally casual! Wear your woodsy summer casual clothes–or whatever you want!

Should I bring my musical instrument?

Yes! You can play it during the campfire on Friday night!

How about shoes?

Leave your Louboutins at home. The ceremony site is a 5-10 minute walk through the woods from the General Store, and we don’t want anyone ruining their shoes.  Think wedges or flats, boots or sneakers, whatever makes you comfortable. You could even wear one pair for the ceremony, and one for the reception, if you want to get fancy about it.

I’m so excited for the afterparty that I want to hire a babysitter for my little one(s).

While Evergreen does not offer babysitting services directly, there are a number of sitters listed in the area on baby-sitting.com.
